Favorable seas and winds put us at the pass of Bora Bora in about 3 hours. It's then a sail through the lagoon to Matira Point, site of the finish line. Strong coastal winds made for an exciting finish as Nick and Steve's teams battled out it neck and neck. A couple of km from the finish, driving the Holopunis to the limit in this final leg, Steve's team pulled out a joker as I jumped in seat number 2 and paddled the hardest 100 meters in my life. The tactical move allowed us to eliminate a couple of tacks. Nick was reminded that these were sailing and paddling canoes! It was all Steve's team needed to pass Nick and hit Matira beach first.
